Project Spotlight: D’Arbonne Woods Charter School – Farmerville, LA

D'Arbonne Woods Charter School in Farmerville, LA, designed by TBA Studio

Nestled on a beautiful, wooded lakeside site D’Arbonne Woods Charter School’s campus in Farmerville, LA opened in August 2016. TBA was selected for master planning of the new campus that included a new elementary school, along with a new junior high and high school building, site improvements, and more. A second phase incorporated athletics facilities including a football field and field house, softball and baseball fields, press box, and more.

Uniquely positioned in the heart of Union Parish, DWCS serves a total of four parishes, as well as both students in Louisiana and Arkansas. With future growth in mind, DWCS was designed to accommodate approximately 1,230 students, including educational, administrative, multi-purpose, athletic, and common spaces.

As a charter school serving a wide geographic area, D’Arbonne Woods plays a special role in the region’s educational ecosystem. The campus needed to reflect that significance—not only in its size and scope, but in its adaptability. This facility is designed to grow with the community, meet evolving educational needs, and support extracurricular and community events that bring people together.

“Our team focused on the interiors, and one of our favorite spaces to design was the library. From the window placement to the ceiling design, flooring, and furniture layouts, every detail was carefully considered to create a space that feels inviting, inspiring, and uniquely connected to the school’s wooded surroundings,” says Lisa Frontaura, a project architect.

School colors of blue and yellow were used throughout designs for the junior high and middle school, while more muted primary colors and earth tones were incorporated for the elementary wing.

For our team, this project represents more than just a school—it’s a center for lifelong learning, meaningful relationships, and community engagement.
