Project Spotlight: Pentecostals of the Twin Cities – Honoring Tradition, Embracing the Future

When The Pentecostals of the Twin Cities set out to renovate its church, the vision went beyond fresh finishes. It was about creating a space that felt both sacred and welcoming, steeped in tradition yet ready for the future. Partnering with TBA, the church embarked on a phased renovation that improved function, enhanced comfort, and preserved the character of its most cherished spaces.

The sanctuary, central to the worship experience, saw the most significant transformation. The original centralized entry was closed to make way for a fully equipped media center, enhancing sight, sound, and broadcast capabilities for both in-person and virtual services. Two new side entrances improved flow, while the expanded stage now features an integrated baptistry for more meaningful worship moments. Updated seating, acoustical wall panels, and fresh finishes complete the renewal of this sacred space.

Beyond the sanctuary, the project introduced a welcoming coffee bar, new staff offices, and renovated classrooms repurposed into a secure childcare facility. Interior Design Project Manager Christian Jones explains:

“The sanctuary’s original design was very traditional and formal. The idea was to create a place that is inclusive, inviting, and modern to allow for their modern use of the space, including camera and AV equipment and individual seating.”

The lobby has become a true highlight of the renovation. Christian shares:

“It has that true ‘wow’ factor with custom lighting, acoustical panels, and signage showcasing the church’s name and logo. The color palette and finishes create a warmth and contemporary appeal that the space had previously lacked.”

The result is a church home that blends reverence with modern amenities and is ready to serve its growing congregation for years to come.
