TBA Studio was tasked with addressing a failing existing roof system at First Methodist Church in West Monroe. Rather than simply replacing it, we designed a solution that elevated both the structure and the experience by raising the roof to create a greater sense of height and depth within the new sanctuary.

Exposed wood trusses were introduced to bring warmth and character to the worship space while preserving the existing brick perimeter walls, maintaining the historic integrity of the church. The design incorporated enhanced acoustics, a new raised stage with centered choir seating, and restored pews from the original sanctuary to honor the church’s heritage.

A comprehensive lighting design highlights the architectural features of the interior, culminating in a dramatic focal point—the illuminated cross centered in the sanctuary. On the exterior, materials and detailing were carefully matched to the existing structure to create a seamless connection between old and new.
