This interior renovation at St. Francis Medical Center created a warm and welcoming Ronald McDonald House Family Room designed to support families with children receiving medical care. Located within the hospital, the space provides a comforting retreat for families navigating extended hospital stays and medical treatments, particularly those traveling from rural communities across northeast Louisiana.
Designed as a “home away from home,” the Family Room offers families a place to rest, recharge, and find moments of comfort close to their child’s care team. The space includes a welcoming reception area and living room, a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, a children’s playroom, three private guest bedrooms for overnight accommodations, laundry facilities, and additional support spaces designed to meet the everyday needs of families during difficult times.
Residential-inspired finishes, calming colors, soft lighting, and thoughtfully designed gathering spaces create an environment centered on emotional well-being, accessibility, and comfort. The project reflects a collaborative effort between TBA Studio, St. Francis Medical Center, and Ronald McDonald House Charities to create a meaningful support space that strengthens access to compassionate, family-centered healthcare throughout the region.
